A240 201 Stainless Square Pipe Mechanical Properties

A240 201 Stainless Square Tube is a high performance austenitic stainless steel formulated to have a lower and more stable cost due to the substitution of manganese for a portion of the nickel used in 300 series stainless steels such as A240 304 Stainless Square Tube. In addition, the chemical composition of A240 201 Stainless Square Tube provides higher annealed mechanical properties than A240 304 Stainless Square Tube which can result in an additional benefit of weight reduction. The A240 201 Stainless Square Tube tensile strength is about 10% higher than A240 304 Stainless Square Tubewhich may allow for thinner gauges and therefore less material.

However, due to the lower Chromium and Nickel content, A240 201 Stainless Square Tube stainless may not have the same corrosion resistance as A240 304 Stainless Square Tube.
